Real Simple Syndication (RSS)

Webfeeds are a type of online publishing that simplifies the lives of many Internet users. Webfeeds make it easy to keep track of the latest content published on your favorite sites without you having to go out and visit the site!

Educational Ideas for RSS

So instead of "searching" the web for updates, you have the news fed to you! A webfeed is a way for you to be continuously “fed” announcements of changes to the content of your favorite Websites, with links to each new content item. To instantly learn what’s new on a site, just check its feed. When you’re trying to follow developments at dozens or hundreds of sites, your time savings can be enormous. If you have 100 students writing in blogs, this is the way to keep it manageable.

Step 2. Find and subscribe to at least three feeds! Post the names and descriptions of the sources you have created feeds for at your Bloglines account. Add a link to your bloglines page and let your peers know why they should subscribe to these feeds too by posting the names and descriptions to our CTL Wiki.
